What happened inside this wild elephant’s mouth? A team of wildlife officers was on their way to treat another wild elephant when they unexpectedly encountered this massive elephant beside the road. One look at his mouth revealed something deeply concerning — a huge rounded swelling that was making it difficult for him to eat. The team immediately changed their plans and decided to help him. But rescuing this powerful wild elephant was far from easy. Several attempts were needed to safely sedate him, while the elephant repeatedly tried to defend himself. After nearly 20 minutes, the veterinary team was finally able to examine him safely. At first, the large swelling looked like a serious mouth injury, and the team even suspected it could be related to a jaw-exploder attack. But the examination revealed something completely different. There was no major damage to his jaw, tongue, or teeth. Instead, the veterinarians discovered a large amount of trapped food inside the unusual inflammatory swelling. Nearly *2 kilograms of food particles* had become trapped inside the affected area. Nearly 10 bottles of saline were administered before the veterinary team continued with the treatment. The trapped food was carefully removed, the affected area was thoroughly cleaned, and appropriate veterinary medicines were administered, including antibiotics, pain relief medication, and multivitamins. The wound was then treated with povidone-iodine solution to help control contamination and support healing. After the treatment, the elephant was safely revived and returned to the forest.
