The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has employed an AI-based ‘Plan B’ system to prevent collisions between trains and elephants. According to an Indian Express report, the lives of 255 elephants were saved between January and September 2026 through the use of ‘Plan B’—which involves sending alerts, restricting speeds, and enhancing patrolling.
