Descripción
Samsung just can't stop building the impossible. After helping construct the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, Samsung C&T took on another massive project: Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Standing 2,227 feet tall with 118 floors, Merdeka 118 is the second-tallest building in the world. Its exterior features almost 18,000 individual glass panels arranged in a distinctive diamond-shaped design inspired by traditional Malaysian art. These angled surfaces help break up powerful winds and reduce how much the tower sways. The building is packed with some seriously impressive technology. Its first seven floors contain a massive shopping mall, while a luxury Park Hyatt hotel occupies 38 floors higher up. Its high-speed elevators can climb around 33 feet every second, and the journey to the observation deck takes less than a minute. Thousands of sensors monitor temperature, humidity, water flow and even how much the tower moves in strong winds. This information helps the building's systems respond to changing conditions. Keeping a skyscraper this massive cool in Kuala Lumpur's hot and humid tropical climate is another challenge. Its cooling system circulates almost 11,000 gallons of chilled water throughout the building every single minute. The tower also collects and recycles rainwater, reducing fresh water consumption by 32%. From its unusual diamond-shaped exterior to its smart monitoring systems and massive cooling network, Merdeka 118 is an incredible example of modern skyscraper engineering. #Merdeka118 #KualaLumpur #Malaysia #SamsungCT #BurjKhalifa #Skyscraper #Architecture #ModernArchitecture #ArchitectureDesign #BuildingDesign #StructuralEngineering #CivilEngineering #Construction #EngineeringMarvel #EngineeringTechnology #SmartBuildings #HighRiseBuildings #MegaStructures #FutureTechnology #SkyscraperDesign
