Beschreibung

In this video, I'm completely disassembling the engine from the Datsun 240Z. The engine revealed quite a lot of secrets. A lot of hidden damage and strange stuff came to light. I found several broken bolts, damaged threads, a performance camshaft, upgraded valve springs, a blown head gasket, broken valves, messed up valve guides, corrosion in the cylinder, chipped valves, and so on. Due to the massive corrosion on the cylinder head in cylinder 6, I decided to replace it with another one. Big thanks to DCW Classic for sending me a new cylinder head. It's also an E88 type head, but actually the better early style version with the smaller combustion chambers. The chamber is 15% smaller than on my original head, which means it will result in a higher compression ratio. After close inspection, I noticed the new head also needed quite some work. The valve seats were really worn and had to be replaced. The valve guides were only semi good, so while I'm at it, I'm replacing them as well. The head also had a messed up thread, had been resurfaced before, and was slightly warped on top. At least it provided a lot of interesting content! All the machining on the block and head, as well as the work on crankshaft and connecting rods, was done by „Delta-Motor AG“ in Switzerland. Huge thanks at this point to the team at „Delta-Motor AG“ for letting me film in their machine shop and for sharing their time and knowledge to help me restore my engine. They did a fantastic job, and their over 40 years of experience really showed. In this video, I restored the block, head, crankshaft, and connecting rods. The pistons and valves were replaced with brand new ones.
