Description

Some movie scenes were so convincing they ended up being used in real-world training. Tom Cruise’s lightning-fast shooting technique in Collateral inspired a real firearms drill. Val Kilmer’s famous reload in Heat was used for Special Forces training. And Band of Brothers’ Brécourt Manor assault has been used at West Point to teach military tactics. Featuring: Tom Cruise in Collateral (2004) Val Kilmer in Heat (1995) Damian Lewis and Neal McDonough in Band of Brothers (2001) #cinema #movies #movie #film #filmfacts #didyouknow #didyouknowfacts #behindthescene #behindthescenes #tomcruise #vincent #collateral #valkilmer #chrisshiherlis #heat #damianlewis #dickwinters #bandofbrothers #militarytraining #moviefactsTout afficher

The fact that certain movie scenes can be interpreted and shown as standard training for special forces or firearms classes goes to show that directors put a lot in. The same thing with Heat because the actors trained with SAS operators. Edit: how in one day did I get 16k likes on this comment I will never know the answer to

The scene of the assault in BoB is not studied in military academies, the actual assault that happened is

World Of Warcraft has perhaps one of the most famous or Infamous incidences where the CDC studied it during the player driven plague incident

Val Kilmer in Heat. That whole shootout was outstanding.

The Mozambique drill has been really important for decades, but I do believe that Tom Cruise and collateral made it popular in western media and to most civilians; two to the body one the head finisher so they don’t get up and shoot you in the back

The Band of Brothers scene is based on Winters assault on Brècourt Manor. He was award a Distinguished Service Cross for it, and yes it is still studied at Westpoint for how to assult a fixed position. It's basic principle of keeping the enemy's head down with suppressive fire was his signature. He'd use it to destroy 2 SS companies with only 2 platoons and for the assault on Foy during the battle of the bulge.

The one thing about Cruise is he’s committed to the role and whatever is required to sell it. If it required special training, once completed, he could demonstrate the training perfectly.

John Wick flipping the magazine out of his sidearm is also a good example of this. Although it’s typically used in competitive shooting rather than military and law enforcement.
