Four days of extreme rain triggered flooding, landslides and widespread infrastructure damage across Nepal, while an avalanche struck Himlung Himal high in the Himalayas. More than 100 mm (3.9 in) of rain was recorded at 186 monitoring stations, with one location receiving 544 mm (21.4 in). Rivers exceeded bridge design flood levels in multiple locations as saturated mountainsides began to fail. This footage documents how extreme precipitation can reshape one of the most mountainous countries on Earth — from raging rivers below to unstable slopes above.
