Descrição

In the mid-1990s, off the coast of Kawaihae, Hawaii, Universal Pictures built one of the most ambitious and troubled productions in Hollywood history: Waterworld, a post-apocalyptic epic staged largely on a vast floating atoll that weighed roughly a thousand tons and was anchored in open ocean. Filming on water posed a peculiar choreographic problem, because every raider shot, speared, or blasted off the walls during the battle sequences still had to disappear convincingly once the cameras captured the fall. A popular story later held that these "killed" stunt performers escaped through hidden underwater chambers built beneath the set, but production accounts do not support so tidy a legend. The reality was more improvised and more dangerous: performers hit the water, swam clear of the frame or ducked beneath the structure's edges, and relied on safety divers, support boats, and carefully timed camera angles to complete the illusion while battling currents, swells, and fatigue. Those demands contributed to a shoot plagued by storms, a sunken set, seasickness, and spiraling costs that pushed the budget past 175 million dollars, then the highest ever recorded. The enduring myth of secret chambers revealed how audiences preferred an elegant trick to the grueling truth, and Waterworld became a cautionary lesson in how ocean-bound filmmaking punished ambition and, in time, accelerated the industry's turn toward controlled tanks and digital water. This video is intended solely for educational and historical analysis. It does not support, promote, or glorify war or any form of hatred. Its purpose is to present verified historical facts and encourage critical understanding of past events.Mostrar tudo

How do you dry the guns before the internal components rust? Do you have to completely disassemble them? This might be one of those times where they use a rubber gun.

The movie was the most expensive for the longest time. Over $100 million spent because of floating set building. The city and oil tanker sets were HUGE.
