YouTube's Trending page is gone: where to find what's trending now

· viralshooter

If you go looking for YouTube's Trending page today, you won't find it. YouTube removed the Trending page and the Trending Now list in July 2025. (TeamYouTube)

Here is why, what replaced it, and where to look for trends now.

Why YouTube removed it

When YouTube launched the Trending page in 2015, "what's trending?" had a simple answer: one list of viral videos everyone was talking about. YouTube says that is no longer how trends work:

  • trends are now made of many videos from many fandoms, with more micro-trends than ever;
  • viewers find trends across YouTube, in recommendations, search suggestions, Shorts, comments and Communities;
  • visits to the Trending page fell significantly, especially over the last five years.

So YouTube moved away from one all-in-one list towards charts for specific categories.

What replaced it

YouTube Charts

YouTube Charts now carries the category lists. When the change was announced, they covered Trending Music Videos, Weekly Top Podcast Shows and Trending Movie Trailers, and YouTube said it would add more categories over time.

The Gaming Explore page

For gaming, YouTube points to the Gaming Explore page for trending gaming videos.

Your recommendations

Beyond charts, YouTube now leans on personalized recommendations to surface popular videos. If you want something that isn't tailored to you, YouTube suggests the Explore menu, creator channels and your subscriptions feed.

For creators: Inspiration and Hype

YouTube says the Inspiration tab in YouTube Studio keeps giving creators personalized ideas, and Hype lets viewers give a boost to new videos they love.

Tools that follow YouTube's charts read them through the YouTube Data API's "most popular" chart. YouTube changed that too. In its words, the chart "will feature videos from the Trending Music, Movies, and Gaming charts", where it used to mirror the Trending Now list. (YouTube Data API revision history)

The chart is still available per country. That is the part a personalized feed can't give you: the same list for everyone, country by country.

How to follow what is charting by country

viralshooter reads YouTube's most-popular chart in 20 countries and keeps the videos and channels on them, so you can:

It shows the charts as YouTube publishes them for each country, not YouTube as a whole or your personal feed.

FAQ

It was removed in July 2025. YouTube now shows trending content in category charts on YouTube Charts, on the Gaming Explore page, and through recommendations.

YouTube Charts has category charts, and the YouTube Data API still offers a most-popular chart for each country. viralshooter follows that chart in 20 countries.

Much of what YouTube shows you is now personalized. Charts are the same for everyone in a country; your recommendations are not.
