Lt. Col. James ‘Jimmy’ Doolittle leads sixteen US Army Air Forces B-25 Mitchell bombers on an audacious bombing raid of Japan. The twin-engined American bombers have to take off from a US Navy carrier’s deck - something that has never been done before - fly hundreds of miles to bomb Tokyo and then another 1500 miles to safety of the Chinese mainland. It’s an incredibly dangerous mission, but for Doolittle and the Americans a chance to avenge Pearl Harbor is well worth the risk. But, before they reach their designated take-off point, they are spotted by a Japanese picket boat and the Americans are forced to launch the mission ten hours early and 220 miles further away than planned. This is the story of the Doolittle Raid. Special thanks to: David F.
